At the height of the financial crisis, RCS secured over £2 million through the Department for Work and Pensions ‘Future Jobs Fund’ programme, which was aimed at tackling youth unemployment.  Acting as a managing agent for the scheme across Conwy and Denbighshire, we facilitated opportunities for over thirty local employers to offer six- month work contracts to unemployed candidates. We ran monthly jobfairs to match candidates with suitable job opportunities, and succeeded in filling all 322 available places by the end of the programme in 2011.  We were particularly proud that nearly sixty percent of participants were kept on by their employer at the end of their six month post. The scheme was brought to an end by the UK government, while in Wales the success of the RCS Future Jobs experience helped to inspire the establishment of Jobs Growth Wales.
